What I liked

I enjoyed the remote structure of the program which allowed me to work with professionals from all over the country. I was able to work around my busy schedule, taking classes and working a Summer job, and complete work in a relaxed manner. I have limited experience and this experience helped to immerse me slowly into the industry.

What I wish was different

I wish that there were more resources provided in helping interns to learn and be more useful to mentors. We were provided with a contact to help us, but there was little contact after the initial intake and verification process. It would have been helpful to have more internal support in working with the external mentors and potentially with tasks I was asked to complete.

Advice

It is essential to keep focused and ask as many questions as possible, I had difficulty doing this as the remoteness was difficult at times. Also before selecting a mentor, verify them and discuss the tasks they would like you to perform in depth. Be very honest about your experience as well, as you do not want the expectations of your exceed what you will actually be able to contribute.
