What I liked

I loved GBQ's flexibility, as well as the overall company morale there. Everyone is super welcoming, and this just makes it fun to go to work. I also loved the experience I was able to receive in working with people at different levels and learning some of the software that accounting firms use.

What I wish was different

Tax work was a little slow at first, but this is because they had just gotten past a deadline when we started. This is something that was annoying at first, but I understand now why we did not have much work at first. After the first few weeks, the work sped up to a reasonable level.

Advice

Make sure to connect with your co-workers at any internship. GBQ specifically pushed its interns to ask other employees (from staff to partner) for breakfast, lunch, coffee, etc AND they will pay for it as well as letting you stay clocked in while doing these meetings. I think this is a great opportunity for a low-level person to build relationships with top-level company executives or other peers.
