Game Show Network

Development Intern

June - August 2021 • Santa Monica, CA

What I liked

The staff and company culture was very open and kind, even virtually. I was able to do a lot of one-on-ones which was really great.

What I wish was different

I wish I had gotten to come in person! But that's only the fault of COVID, and not the company. I also wish there was an instituted/official midway evaluation with the supervisors of the department.

Advice

Be open to learning about different parts of the industry! Network and make connections.

Design Intern

June - August 2021 • Santa Monica, CA

What I liked

Everyone was super welcoming from day one and seemed excited that I was there. I got to work on real projects that aired, and the professionals seemed happy to help me along the way. I also got to work with the interns in other departments and learn the ins and outs of an entertainment network. I appreciated how educational the company designed the internship program to be. I felt sad when the program was over because I loved it so much, but I now have many great connections and I hope to be able to work with them again soon!

What I wish was different

It was a remote experience, so I was limited when it came to shadowing and getting to know coworkers. It was also a bit more difficult to ask for help or ask questions. I couldn't simply walk over to a cubicle, I had to send a message or email and wait for a response. Otherwise, I loved my experience!

Advice

Don't be embarrassed to ask questions! You're the intern, it's okay to not know everything.
