Global Brokerage Sales Intern

June - August 2018 • Rolling Meadows, IL

What I liked

I liked the rotational program structure that consisted of us getting to experience how different producers in different niches develop their books of business. I also really liked having the networking event where we got to meet all of the company's top executives and the CEO's bbq at his very own home. Intern orientation week was an amazing time, getting to meet all 450+ interns from across America and Canada.

What I wish was different

The sales challenge teams should've consisted of members from each of the divisions so that they could all apply what they learned into one pitch and have all teams be based off of the same criteria.

Advice

Act like a sponge. You will be thrown all sorts of lingo and concepts that you may not understand, so make sure to ask questions. It may seem overwhelming, but everyone is understanding and helpful.

Investor Relations Intern

May - August 2018 • Rolling Meadows, IL

What I liked

I enjoyed the people I worked with, company culture, and the job itself. Also, enjoyed the performance based environment and being able to provide answers to questions. My boss also was a phenomenal mentor and very professional; his insight and teaching made me a better professional/employe

What I wish was different

I wish I had more time to really learn and understand the job. Unfortunately, I was only there for one quarterly earnings report so i wasn't able to get the whole corporate finance scope and the way the current market is going, I would've loved to see how those factors would affect the company's stock and the global market.

Advice

Invest in relationships with bosses and coworkers. That is the determining factor on wether your internship is a positive or negative experience. Money does matter but the company culture, people you work with are bigger factors.

Sales Intern

June - August 2018 • Omaha, NE

What I liked

The thing that stood out the most would be how great the culture was with Gallagher. There is a true sense of pride to be employed with Gallagher whether it be in Omaha, Chicago, LA, or any of the other offices across the United States.

What I wish was different

Telling the honest truth, I wouldn't change much about this internship. They have a really good program in place that has been perfected over the past 30 years and I was proud to be apart of it.

Advice

I would say don't be afraid to stick your neck out there and get to know people. Building your personal network will do nothing but help you in the future. The more people you know, the more opportunities may fall in to place. Nothing bad can come from a conversation, so long as you bring friendship and positivity.

Sales Intern

June - August 2018 • Bellevue, WA

What I liked

It was a very interactive internship where we got to network with other companies and higher up employees in the company. We got to go to client meetings and actively learn about the business.

What I wish was different

I wish that we got to be more involved in the meetings, maybe presenting a part of the presentation during the meeting,

Advice

My advice would be to meet everyone you can. Having those connections is going to help you down the road and they will want to ask you back if you make good connections with them.
