I appreciated the wide variety of exposure I was offered by way of commercial real estate--exercises in finance, investment and even local politics, for example, were common in day to day operations. I came away with a much better knowledge of many aspects of business workings, in addition to an inside view to commercial real estate.
What I wish was different
Not being licensed in CRE limits what one is able to do on behalf of the firm.
Advice
CRE isn't often the first industry that we consider as students. However, it is really short on recent grads and there are tremendous opportunities that I wouldn't have known of otherwise. I'd say to give it a shot!
