I was fortunate to find a summer job related to my major, environmental studies. My work was important to me because I was taking part in keep Maine lakes clean. I also liked how I was able to work outside all day. Most summer jobs are indoors, so I was lucky to get the chance to be outside.
What I wish was different
I wish I could have worked more than just the weekends. It would have been nice to get more hours and to have something to do during the week.
Advice
I never thought I would find a summer job relating to my major, but if you put the time in to do research and apply to everything you can, you will be successful. My mom was the one who found the job, and I applied in late spring, so I was shocked when I got the call offering me the job.

What I liked
This was a great opportunity to work outdoors during the summer months between semesters. I was fortunate to find a job related to my major (environmental studies) in some way.
What I wish was different
I wish I had more to do during work. Sometimes on slow days, I find the time goes by slow and I have nothing to do.
Advice
I highly recommend anyone looking for a job related to the environment to look into their local watershed and see if they hold positions similar to mine. I had no idea this existed until I found the job posting. It is a great experience, and you get to work outdoors!
