Software Engineer Coop Student

May - August 2018 • Blue Ash, OH

What I liked

I got to get actual experience in full stack Web Devlopment. I got to learn from many different departments. I plan on returning for another two coop terms and learning from other departments. I am thinking about going into their mobile team or A.I. team.

What I wish was different

The only real things that I wish were different were a more structured QA team. I had an overall great experience and before I left they were hiring people for QA.

Advice

Confidence, ability to communicate, and ability to work with others matter much more than your actual knowledge in the field. If you have the drive and ability to learn, you will be taught everything you need to know to be effective on the job.

Digital Media Intern

May - August 2018 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

I loved the environment and the fact that I got to work with athletes and Fox Sports talent everyday.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had been given a little bit more responsibilty. In th Spring they gave me a ton of stuff to do and in the Summer I had a different supervisor who gave me less work.

Advice

Stay self motivated and always be willing to go above and beyond to impress the people around you with your skills.

Sports Reporter

December 2017 • Baltimore, MD

What I liked

I loved everything about it! But being able to talk to all the players and coaches in the MLB that fans can only watch from the stands or their couch is absolutely a blessing.

What I wish was different

I wish I had traveled a bit more to other teams stadiums like the Pirates, Mets or Phillies.

Advice

Enjoy yourself. You're living the dream, maybe just not getting paid for it yet. But the best thing to do is realize where you are, who you are surrounded by and be yourself. I know in media/broadcasting/journalism a lot of people talk/act the same so be yourself and stand out! Oh, and players love when you talk to them like another person instead of an object that you're trying to squeeze a juicy story out of.

Runner for FOX Sports

June 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I had the chance to work alongside senior producers and executives, and was able to witness the behind-the-scenes action of the television industry first hand. I also had the opportunity to network on my own, going out of my way to meet qualified individuals and discuss their field with them.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been offered to work for a longer period of time. My job was an intense stretch of fourteen days, with long hours, but I wish it was more spread out.

Advice

Ask lots of questions, even if it seems intimidating at first.
