Five9

Intern

June 2002 - September 2022 • San Ramon, CA

What I liked

I loved my summer internship at Five9! Five9 had so much programming for interns that helped contribute to our personal and professional development. There were Speaker Series events where we heard from the CEO, Chief Marketing Officers, and many other employees at Five9. Five9 encouraged exploring departments separate from your own. All the managers seemed to be very trusting of their interns and appreciated their insights and opinions. They also hosted an in-person intern event to allow all interns, both remote and in-person, to meet and collaborate on a philanthropy project with Habitat for Humanity.

What I wish was different

Honestly my experience was so great at Five9, I cannot think of much to change. I know some interns were frustrated that they were not able to receive return offers due to budget constraints.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share is to be open to exploring other departments. I reached out to several people in other departments of interest and they were incredibly open to sharing more with me. I discovered a new area of interest through meeting with other people at the company. Everyone at Five9 is willing to help if you ask!
