Finance Intern

May 2019 • Brown Deer, WI

What I liked

All of it - the company gave me real hands-on work to do all summer. I got to see so much of the finance world that I would not have otherwise had the chance to see until my senior year. Also, they have allowed me to continue working through school which has made my in-class experience much more valuable as I begin to bridge the gaps between textbook content and real world applications.

What I wish was different

Nothing really, I am still really enjoying my time at FIS and know that if I ever wanted to engage in a new business area or take on new roles this company would absolutely go out of their way to provide me with that.

Advice

Make sure you are visibly ambitious and willing to earn the bigger tasks. The tedious work in the beginning is where you can earn the trust and show the diligence that you need in order to be trusted with bigger and more important tasks.

Business Analyst Intern

June - August 2019 • Brown Deer, WI

What I liked

I like the company's overall mission and processes. I felt it was a great company to grow into. I liked that I could finally work in a field closely related to my background in retail banking and my major in IT Management. Learn how the "back office" and corporate world of business, was very interesting and very enlightening for how I should handle myself in those environments. I was given a lot of freedom to work at my own pace, within reason, and explore my department and role.

What I wish was different

I wish i was able to get more involved within the company and expand connections to other departments of the company. I was very grateful for the opportunity I had with FIS and my department, however the department I worked in felt like a dead end and not necessarily a position of growth.

Advice

This interest was great to show me a better outlook on the path I want to take upon graduation. I would say to make as many connections as possible during an internship. Most people you connect with in these opportunities want to see you succeed, especially if they know you. So definitely build relationships and connections with peers, coworkers, and potential mentors.

What I liked

The office and company culture and work environment was amazing.

What I wish was different

There couldn’t have been a better experience for me personally. From other interns I heard the company was not prepared with 40 hours of work so there was a lot of down time for some interns.

Advice

It taught me so much and really put me in the real world business life.

What I wish was different

I wish that I was given some more projects. Some of the time I had nothing to do and I like to be overwhelmingly busy when I'm at work.

Advice

It is a wonderful company to work for, but the St. Pete office is dingy and has little windows so it's kinda of depressing. Don't expect a state of the start office.
