First Tee

Network Relations Intern

May - August 2023 • Ponte Vedra, FL

What I liked

This summer, I had the pleasure of working as an intern with First Tee Headquarters in Ponte Vedra, Florida. As an alumni, scholar, and coach of the program, it was truly an incredible opportunity to witness the inner workings of an organization to which I attribute much of who I am today to. While there, I discovered my passion in understanding how the synergy between business systems and sports can drive profound benefits for both athletes and the broader community.

What I wish was different

Honesty - I have no notes of feedback regarding what could have been better. I had incredible coworkers and managers who were not only willing to trust me with important projects, but were genuinely interested in my growth as a professional and an individual. They showcased this through their constant kindness and generosity.

Advice

Be willing to build and establish relationships with as many people as you can within the organization - even if this means going beyond your comfort zone!

Lead Coach

May 2018 • Sioux City, IA

What I liked

The First Tee allowed for me to fly to Richmond, VA to become first level certified to lead classes that I was certified in. This was an awesome networking and learning experience.

What I wish was different

I wish I would’ve gotten second level certified a little bit sooner. Especially since I’m usually responsible for the upper level classes anyways.

Advice

The First Tee is a great organization and if any parent is thinking about having their child “try out” different activities this should definitely be one of them.

I loved that I had so many opportunities to do so many different tasks. I also got to participate in meetings and contribute ideas to the team.

What I wish was different

I just wished there was an orientation or some kind of first day information that we got before we started because I was confused about a lot going in to my first day there.

Advice

Take advantage of the opportunity, your experience is truly what you make it. If you put a lot into it you’ll get a lot out of it.
