Fidelity Investments

Pension Administration Intern

June - August 2019 • Roanoke, TX

What I liked

I loved the group that I worked with! It felt as if I was just an average employee helping out with many clients. Being able to do a multitude of work with a flexible schedule made work great! Plus, there were a couple events that we got to bond as a group which were great. In addition to that, working at Fidelity allowed me to learn about all the other kinds of work I could potentially do there (if I were to stay on).

What I wish was different

I had wished there might be another intern to share in the experience with me, but I built relationships with my coworkers easily!

Advice

It’s a great starting to place for an internship, with a great team, a great company, and a great facility!

Game Development Intern

July 2019 • Boston, MA

What I liked

The Internship was Off-site, meaning that I was able to work from my home in New Jersey over the summer and In my dorm in Worcester now. I was also working on a team with my friends so it was easy to communicate and talk with them about ideas. We were designing a game for them and the way they let us work was very freeform and loose. This gave us a lot of space to come up with interesting ideas for the game.

What I wish was different

The experience overall has been very good and I would not change much about it.

Advice

Working with a small team on game development has the chance to let you experience every part of the process of making a game. Use that experience when working with larger and smaller teams to understand what is possible from different departments( as well as your own) in a certain amount of time. This will help with grasping the concept of scope and time management while developing the game as well as with your work.

What I liked

I loved how as an intern I was treated as a full time employee, taking on tasks that made it possible for me to learn as much as possible. I was selected to participate in a Risk Management Training during the first few days of my internship which gave me a good foundation to build on throughout the internship.

What I wish was different

Human Resources Intern

May - August 2019 • Roanoke, TX

What I liked

The company culture and the beauty of the campus is second to none. There is a stereotype that interns are treated badly and are expected to make coffee runs and run other errands - this was not that internship. I was given meaningful work and had endless opportunities to network and seek advice from senior leaders. I always had work to do and learned so much.

What I wish was different

I would not change anything about my internship. I learned so much and got along well with my team. I was offered a full time position at the end of my internship.

Advice

A good attitude and taking initiative is very important! It's okay not to know everything, but asking questions and a willingness to learn and do work goes a long way.
