Fender Musical Instruments Corporation

Engineering Tech Intern

May - August 2019 • Corona, CA

What I liked

I really enjoyed the community of Fender. It is a company I am very passionate about and the people there really seem to love their jobs. It is a fast-paced environment, but the friendly faces and fun environment make it so much more manageable.

What I wish was different

As far as my duties are concerned, I wish I had been given a better job description right away. I did not fully understand what it was I signed up for until I showed up for my first day and I didn't know how much or IF I was getting paid until I went to sign paperwork for the position.

Advice

This is an Industrial Engineering position. You will most likely be taking time studies all summer, so if you are like me, a Mechanical Engineer, it may not be as interesting as going somewhere more hands-on. Having said that, I still enjoyed my experience very much, and it was good to see another side of the production process. It allowed me to not only see manufacturing from a designer's POV, but also from the POV of the laborer who you are requiring to produce your design.

Public Relations Intern

May - August 2018 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

I felt like I was receiving real world experience that benefitted the company. I felt like I was a valuable asset.

What I wish was different

I honestly wouldn't change anything. The people and company were amazing.

Advice

I would make sure to prepare incoming interns on how heavy the workload is. It truly is a full time job and you are required to work just as hard, if not more, than everyone else. It is very rewarding though.
