The staff experience was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had the pleasure of having. Not only is the job just amazing, being outside with kids and friends, but you get to connect to your coworkers and form deep friendships. This was my fifth year there and I still had an amazing and unforgettable experience.
What I wish was different
Some of the challenges are tough to deal with but one of the factors I wish was different is consistency. This is an unavoidable issue with the job since there are so many moving pieces on site that everyone has to be ready to pitch in. It can be frustrating to be pulled from your job to fill in a gap somewhere else on site but that comes with the territory.
Do it. If you don't think it's for you I promise there is something there for you. I have seen many staff come through and almost always the ones who were the most nervous and hesitant have the best time. I know because that was me my first summer there, working at a summer camp was not on my radar anywhere but I am so thankful I did. You learn so many valuable lessons that help you not only professionally but personally.
