July - August 2018 • Bedford Park, IL

What I liked

The pay was pretty good. The people there were very nice and genuine.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have worked more hours, but the work was too tiring for multiple shifts.

Advice

Prepare to work hard. At first the job is pretty tiring, you get used to it after about two weeks. There are also many opportunities to move around within the company if you plan on staying at FedEx for a while.

Assistant manager

June 2018 • Austell, GA

What I liked

I really liked that I had the opportunity to broaden my horizons and find appreciation for my abilities. Even through difficult situations I learned something new and was supported by my co-workers.

What I wish was different

I don’t wish anything was different. I got exactly what I wanted from this experience.

Advice

I suggest that whatever a person sets their mind to do, they should do it with all their strength. I also suggest they seek advice from more experienced co-workers and they should stay humble (ready to listen).

What I liked

Consistent hours and great learning opportunities. Good workout every morning.

What I wish was different

Hardly none of the employees were glad to be there. Very negative atmosphere.

Advice

Definitely a good experience if you’re looking to have a good manual labor job during the summer. Pay is good for the hours and you could definitely have another job at the same time.

February 2017 • Romeoville, IL

What I liked

I like the physical activity, I'm an athletic person and being able to use that on the job makes me happy.

What I wish was different

More flexible hours, I'm usually stuck after school waiting around for my shift to begin and I wish I could go in to start early.

Advice

This job isn't for everyone. The job takes patience and hard work, if you show hustle in the workplace the managers will 100% notice your work ethic and give you more opportunities.

Package Handler

May - August 2019 • Troutdale, OR

What I liked

The fact that there were people of every race, size, gender, etc. and everyone was always willing to help each other out. The sense of community was incredible and spirit lifting. I also liked that almost all of the supervisors and higher positions started as Package Handlers so they all knew what it was like to be in our shoes. The whole Hub felt like one team.

What I wish was different

I wish they had payed us our set wage for working extra hours (mandatory Sunday sorts) instead of paying us less.

Advice

Be thankful.

Warehouse Stocker

July - September 2019 • City of Industry, CA

What I liked

I liked how it was more of a team work based job. You depend on others, and others depend on you. There are multiple shifts you can take, you have the option of being full time or part time. There is room to move up, and the supervisors encourage you to apply to move up. Graveyard shifts pay extra than regular daytime shifts. If you want to work just 3 days due to school, you can request it to the manager. It’s a flexible job, but as well tough if you’re not into hard labor. You get raises at least every 6 months which is great. Managers care about you and care about the safety of others. Managers usually have some barbecue or breakfast food once a month. The supervisors make you stretch before your shift. They teach you right away about your position and won’t stop advising you until 3 month probation is over which is great. They want you to excel in your job as it is important for FedEx customers to receive their packages on time.

What I wish was different

I wish they were to have will on call workers. If one person from your team calls off, the job because two times more. That’s what makes it tough. Everything else is fine.

Advice

It really is a hard labor job, you will be lifting from 10-100 pounds of boxes and objects. You will sweat so much, if you have a gym membership cancel it because this will be your new gym.
