What I liked

Since the job isn't too intensive, it allows you to be meticulous in your work and focus on smaller but important details that improve the store's cleanliness, efficiency, and more. Furthermore, being able to connect with others at different points in their life was an enriching experience. I gained new perspectives through conversations.

What I wish was different

Unfortunately, theft was a significant issue across the company. Seeing so much theft and being helpless in the situation was difficult.

Advice

If you can get a summer job, go for it! Beyond the money you gain, you get an insight into the lives of others and connect with people you would have never connected with before.

What I liked

I worked with really cool people. I was working there as a sales associate for about 2 years and they promoted me to part-time assistant manager. They were willing to work with my schedule, but they really want people to work around the holidays (black friday in particular).

What I wish was different

Sometimes the district manager would not be flexible with my schedule, but everyone else was. I also wish that there were more people working as we were understaffed after covid due to the fact they were not looking to hire as many people so they could save money.

Advice

Be prepared to have great customer service. They really want you to connect with each customer and have a positive attitude at all times and they do have a moderate dress code. I also suggest that you give them school schedules in as much advance as you can as well as when you request time off.

I wish I would have had a higher management role since I have been working there for a while & have the leadership skills to do it.

What I liked

I was able to interact with a variety of people. Working at Famous Footwear gave me the ability to improve customer service skills. The skills have helped me in other situations such as presentations, other jobs, and volunteering.

What I wish was different

I wish the employees and I at Famous Footwear could've bonded more and become more of a team. I felt that being more united we could accomplish more of the store goals.
