FamilySearch

Family Search Guest Services Intern

June 2019 • Salt Lake City, UT

What I liked

I enjoyed the spiritual and motivating work environment with opportunities to help visitors from all over the world, which allows me to constantly practice my foreign language skills and improve genealogical knowledge.

What I wish was different

I wish the work could have been more diversified to different areas including interpretation, translation of genealogical records, and other index projects to help the organization to improve the overall experience of their customers.

Advice

Very competitive salary. If you are a Genealogy or Family Studies major and wouldn't mind being limited to doing certain tasks over and would like to focus on selected genealogical tasks(Some of them aren't even relevant), this would be a nice choice.

Communications Intern

March - August 2018 • Salt Lake City, UT

What I liked

I loved working with people who had similar interests that I did. I didn't really care too much about Family History at the beginning, but I loved writing. I had the opportunity to talk to many people who had degrees similar to what I am pursuing and it was so cool to see where it could take me.

What I wish was different

I can't really say anything I wish would be different except maybe having the opportunity to work more hours.

Advice

If you see something that even remotely interests you, go for it! I never imagined myself working at FamilySearch, but it was the greatest thing I could possibly have done for myself and my future.
