FamilyLife

Human Resources Intern

June - August 2018 • Little Rock, AR

What I liked

Interning at FamilyLife has been one of the most valuable and life-changing experiences I have ever had. I was given the privilege of working on the Mobilization Team and I never felt like anything but an equally valued member of the team. They taught me skills that launched me in my personal, spiritual, and professional journey. I came in with a very thin resume but they believed in me and pushed me beyond what I thought I was capable of. I was given the opportunity to not just support but lead a company-wide event that fostered company culture, implement changes in their social media and marketing strategies, and plan orientations for new employees. In contrast to most internships, I was never asked to grab coffee for people or make copies but rather, they were the ones who always brought me snacks and asked how they could support me. Interning with FamilyLife isn't about what you can offer them but about how they can support you in your calling from Christ. They believed in me from day one and helped me grow into the person and employee I am today.

What I wish was different

I wish it had been longer than just two months.

Advice

Go into this internship with an open heart, open hands, and an open mind because if you arrive at FamilyLife expecting only to gain more things to write on your resume, you might be disappointed when you realize that God has so much more in store for you.

Event Planning Intern

June - July 2018 • Little Rock, AR

What I liked

Mentorship and entrepreneurship were key constants. I was always asked my opinion, invited to any relevant meeting, and given helpful feedback. I felt like a valuable member of the team, not just a coffee-fetching intern. Outside of office hours, we spent a LOT of time together as an intern team with Bible studies and weekend excursions. Our unprogrammed time included a lot of exploring and game nights. I couldn't have asked for a better summer family!

Writing Intern

June - August 2019 • Little Rock, AR

What I liked

The FamilyLife summer internship is so much more than just some internship. It was a summer mission experience, and one in which you not only practice discipleship and evangelism but also learn more about yourself and who God created you to be! Additionally, we were able to actually contribute to FamilyLife, unlike some internships where you mostly just get people coffee or do busy work. For instance, I was able to have three articles published from my time there!
