I loved working as a civilian employee for the military. Because my husband is a soldier, it gives me the opportunity to move my career around when we're PCSed. I loved getting to work outside often, and really enjoyed the i got to work with and teach so many people. Working High Ropes also builds some serious self confidence and I really enjoy it.
What I wish was different
When I took the job, I didn't really understand how a flex position works. I didn't end up getting as many hours as I had hoped to, which was a little frustrating.
Advice
Don't be afraid to ask for more hours and responsibilities. And when you have observed how to do the job, you're going to need to try and actually do it by yourself before you really feel ready to. It all becomes natural with experience, but you have to act in faith.
