What I liked
Expeditors is a place you can learn and grow. Your career here is what you make it.
What I wish was different
I wish I had gotten the opportunity to travel to other offices for training.
Advice
Openly communicate your goals. No one can help you get there if they don't know you want to go there.

EDI Analyst Intern
May - August 2018 • Seattle, WA
What I liked
I liked that they gave me real work, not just simple tasks to be completed. I had to work with real business problems and create projects that helped solve business solutions and improve the effectiveness of the managerial staff. I worked with professionals and was expected to be responsible with the work that I was given and complete it in the time allotted. It was a great experience and gave me a lot of professional corporate experience that I wouldn't have an opportunity to have anywhere else.
What I wish was different
One challenge that I had was spending the majority of my time working alone. While it was expected with the work that I was assigned to, it was difficult because my personality promotes team collaboration.
Advice
Expect to learn on the go, be ready to receive work that you can't do and will figure out. Sometimes you'll be expected to do something that you've never learned and respond with: "I don't know how to do that, but I'll figure it out."

Customs Broker
May - August 2018 • Des Moines, WA
What I liked
The number of responsibilities I was given was fulfilling of my time. I was also treated as a valued employee rather than just another 'intern' who would be leaving in a few months.
What I wish was different
Nothing
Advice
Be honest with yourself, teammates, and supervisors. Ask questions when you have them, take advantage of all training opportunities, and take notes when you need to. The learning curve can be tough to get used to but everyone around you wants to help. The culture Exepeditors has is welcoming and friendly.
