I loved that the interns were given a lot of independence and would be pushed in their projects to pull out their full potential as young professionals.

Advice
Make sure you ask as many questions as possible and make use of all your resources there while you can.

Longer internship so I can actually see the taxes being filed.

What I liked
Internships at Expedia Group are great because they place you in actual full-time positions and train you like full-time employees. You can be assured that you are going to get actual work experience and not just be stuck with busy work.
What I wish was different
I don't like the system they have in place for return offers. Expedia Group only gives you a return offer for the role in which you interned. They also could not guarantee my location and salary until March, but I would have to accept the blanket offer with little information by November.
Advice
Ask more questions about what your job would entail. Going into this internship, I didn't have a great grasp on what I would be doing. I ended up on the phone most of my days talking to hotel clients. I don't like talking on the phone so I don't know if I would have accepted this internship if I had had more information.

What I liked
The company culture and mission. The people and community are very open and friendly.
What I wish was different
My project wasn’t established until half way through my internship and the on boarding onto the team and into the tech stack was rough and slow. Wasted half my internship pretty much.
Advice
Don’t be afraid to ask questions and ask for clarity when needed

EVC Recovery Apprentice

What I liked
The culture at Expedia is fantastic! They really appreciate their employees. They made being an apprentice/intern so much fun. They also made returning to school and working a very stress free process.
What I wish was different
Advice
This apprentice was open to all majors and it fit with so many of our degrees. I was glad I did not rule this out just because it wasn't one of the typical firms in my degree program. I got to meet so many of peers in other majors.

What I liked
Loved my team and manager! They did a great job giving me work that was applicable to our team, and I appreciated that Expedia tries to deploy intern projects as quickly as possible. Really positive learning experience.
What I wish was different
My mentor on the team was a bit inexperienced (about 1 year of experience on the team), which was strange for me because I've primarily worked with senior developers in the past, but this turned out to be great in the end because we were able to learn together.
Advice
After you accept an offer to go somewhere, definitely email someone on the team, possibly your interviewer or the mentor you're assigned, what you should be looking into so you can prepare for your work there!

What I liked
Great environment. Everyone loves their job and believes in the company. Managers truly want employees to love what they are doing. My team was really focused on building a team culture with outside of work events. The President was very accessible and ready to chat any time.
What I wish was different
I wish I could have received more constructive criticism.
Advice
Even if you don't like the team you intern for, there will be a position where you are doing what you love.
