Endicott College

Research assistant criminal justice

January - May 2023 • Beverly, MA

What I liked

I was able to gain experience in the field of cyber security. The fact that I created a course that will be used to teach people in the future was honestly something I was very proud of.

What I wish was different

I wish we would've had more choice in the roles we were assigned to. However, I can understand why they were predetermined.

Advice

Be ready to research. Most of my position was researching about the basics of protecting data and creating a presentation that will be used for a course in the future.

Resident Assistant

June - August 2021 • Beverly, MA

What I liked

Being a Resident Assistant (RA) over the summer was completely different from any other experience I have had as an RA. Over the summer it is so quiet, so peaceful, and so free. Especially at Endicott College where you are right by the beach. It was refreshing after a long, hard, confusing year and I felt that I met so many people on campus that I didn’t know before from this experience.

What I wish was different

Housing! This was a small inconvenience in an overall great one, I just happened to have gotten a roommate that had an opposite personality from myself and felt uncomfortable being in my room all the time (that’s kind of just how I work). No hard feelings to that roommate, we just weren’t great living together. But the rest of my suitemates were amazing & took me in whenever I needed them and that helped cancel this out for me.

Advice

One piece of advice I have for people that are considering an RA position at any time, not just during the off season, is to take every opportunity that is thrown at you. Being an RA brings so many educational, experiential and personal opportunities that help you grow as an adult and a leader, and they are amazing if you take advantage of them!

Student Affairs Student Assistant

What I liked

Working on Campus in Student Affairs- it helped me to consider Higher Education as a Post-Graduation career idea.

What I wish was different

Nothing

Advice

This experience helped me to connect with Endicott Staff members in a way that wouldn't be possible over the academic year. I was able to work with all offices related to student affairs including residence life, student activities, community service, and orientation/first-year experience.
