This was my first hands on experience with wildlife and I absolutely loved it! The staff, volunteers, and wildlife director were so helpful throughout the entire internship. Classes were provided by the wildlife director, Michelle, that showed and prepped you for the oncoming week of a new area. I really enjoyed the teaching environment as it allowed me to feel comfortable in asking questions and knowing that there is no such thing as stupid questions.

Advice
Communication is important especially when multitasking with other interns. Wear comfortable shoes and invest in soles since you can be standing for more than 8 hours every day. If you don't know where something is or how to do a certain task, always ask! There is no shame since we're all there to learn something.

What I liked
I got so much hands-on medical and animal care experience with wildlife that I would not have been able to get anywhere else.

Advice
The hours are long and the work is hard, but it's worth it in the end with how much experience you get.
