Social Media/Digital Marketing Intern

What I liked

This remote position allowed me to expand my skills on platforms such as Google Sheets and Pinterest. This internship also gave me a great opportunity to be able to be a Team Lead Assistant for my group. This position allowed for a great resume builder and overall a great experience. Skype was our main communication base, which made it easy for all of our communication between the teams. I also appreciated how organized it was; if there was a task that needed to be done, you knew about it and knew where to find it. Completing my weekly hours was usually not an issue. Communication was the biggest thing, being able to connect with your team, touch base, or even stay in the loop with updates is a must.

What I wish was different

The main thing that I can think of is the communication before entering the internship. You will not get access to Skype groups until you begin your internship, so the communication aspect and email system before then is somewhat unreliable, making it difficult. During the internship, I wish we had been able to work on more social media tasks. Because of the timeline that we were at, we were able to work more towards the end of my time on this internship, which I enjoyed.

Advice

One piece of advice would be to make sure you are keeping up to date with new messages and also not saving your hours/work for the end of the week. Prioritizing work and self-discipline will be needed, but it is worth it.

What I liked

I liked that there were areas for growth in leadership opportunities or more responsibilities in projects to complete. It was a remote opportunity, yet we still met with our teams, made friends, and could gain the perspective of working for a business in a remote realm that I haven't experienced before.

What I wish was different

Occasionally I wish there were more opportunities to broaden skill sets in different projects. Sometimes the work could feel repetitive, but still an amazing experience.

Advice

Take the opportunity to be a team lead or put yourself out there. This company is a great place for getting out of your comfort zone and expanding your skills for when you start your career.

What I liked

I loved working with my coworkers and being able to have creative freedom while still working within the guidelines and tasks! It was a great experience to kind of get a foot in the door of the professional world and it introduced me to so many different programs and ideas as a marketing intern!

What I wish was different

I wish I had forseen how much time the internship would take up as it was initially difficult to manage an internship with my classes, but I did get the hang of it as time went on!

Advice

I would say, listen to your supervisor and make sure you complete tasks on time, if not make sure you communicate any issues or restrictions with people at your internship!

What I liked

I got a lot of hands-on digital marketing experience in which I was able to create and contribute meaningful content for EEP's site. I also learned a lot about what goes into SEO and how to push content to the top of search results, which I believe will be a useful skill to have at any company I work for in the future.

What I wish was different

I wish I were able to physically visit a workplace. Due to the pandemic, the experience took place entirely online.

Advice

It's crucial to read the instructions and follow along with the steps as you complete the week's assignment. It is the best way to avoid simple mistakes.

What I liked

I loved being a team lead and working with my other team members. It gave me a lot of leadership and management experience.

What I wish was different

The expectations changed every week and it could be hard to keep up with them sometimes.

Since the schedule is flexible it can be easy to put off hours. I did better when I set a schedule for myself.

What I liked

I got a lot of great experience that I have been able to leverage and am grateful to have found an internship during the beginning of COVID. I was able to choose when I was available to work, and the job was really flexible with my school and work schedule.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to learn more about creating graphics. I was taking skills I already knew and creating graphics. There were also hundreds of interns, so it was hard to standout from other interns.

Advice

Time management and motivation. No one is going to be watching you all the time, so it's important to manage your time and your motivation to complete your tasks and make this internship what you want it to be.

SEO/ Digital Marketing Intern

What I liked

I enjoyed being able to integrate myself into the world of digital marketing. We acquired lots of tools to work on an SEO project that is still ongoing, which gave me the chance to learn something new every day. Work was flexible and amicable enough to allow space for learning and skill development. Overall, it was a great experience and I am glad I got to contribute and grow as a person and employee in this company.

What I wish was different

I wish we could have had the ability to experience this non-virtually but I am still glad I got to develop my working skills even through the pandemic.

Advice

If I had to share one piece of advice it would be this simple comment: always ask when you're not sure. You will find out that you're not being bothersome but rather proactive by showcasing your interest in doing a good job. It will also open doors to opportunities you never imagined.
