Advice

I feel as though you need to be able to work in a high-stress environment. While the job is relatively simple, due to the location and how understaffed the store is, it can be challenging. So, just having that in mind is key .

You will work with people that you do not get along with while doing work that you are not crazy about, but that just makes you want to work harder for your dream. Be kind always.

It was a relaxed enviroment.

More competent management. It seemed the manager was promoted because she had a connection to the district manager. There was also no Assistant manager so other workers were delegated the tasks.

Make sure you have everything settled out.

What I liked

I held this job my senior year of high school and every summer since then. The overall duties haven't changed much in the years I've been there, which makes it easy to come back each summer. I made good friends with my coworkers this summer, and it's great to get free coffee every day. The regular customers are also wonderful. It was really easy to get hours and I worked about 40 hours most weeks, give or take a few. It's a fast-paced environment and you really learn to think on your feet.

What I wish was different

Working 8-9 hour shifts almost every day was difficult. I worked the 2pm-10pm shift, which made it hard to have a social life outside of work. Some coworkers were unreliable and customers were sometimes rude, but I mostly wish I could have worked different hours.

Advice

It's definitely not the best job you'll ever have, but it can be fun. Take time to get to know the regular customers, they usually turn out to be really cool people. Also, make friends with your coworkers. It'll make the long hours go by much faster, and some of the best friendships I've ever had were made at Dunkin.

I liked the fast paced work environment. There was always something to do. This made the time there fly by.

What I wish was different

Dealing with people in customer service can be a little hard sometimes. I wish people were more considerate of the workers behind fast food.

Advice

If you keep a positive attitude it makes the day so much easier to get through. Also, don’t hold on to things that bother you at work because in the end it’s only going to stress you out more than you need.
