DOZ, LLC

Audit Intern

December 2022 - January 2023 • Carmel, IN

What I liked

- The people are so nice and are willing to answer any questions that you have - The work I was doing was very relevant to the accounting profession - Was a very good internship overall

What I wish was different

- They only have a couple of offices, so not a lot of cities to choose from - Some employees aren't too professional and are a little sloppy with their clothing - Other than that, the internship was really good

Advice

Overall, it was a very well put together internship with a lot of tasks that make you knowledgeable in accounting.

Audit Intern

December 2018 - March 2019 • Carmel, IN

What I liked

Interns have the same responsibilities as staff and are responsible for completing entire audits. Feedback meeting with a partner every two weeks.

What I wish was different

They don't pay overtime (salaried) but expect you to work 65 hours a week. The review process is what determines if you get a return offer but is very subjective. Some seniors (team leads) are vague on what you need to work on.

Advice

Do another internship. If you broke my pay down into an hourly rate, I was making $21/hour with no overtime. Most other Big 4, mid-tier, and national firms pay anywhere from $20-25/hour with uncapped overtime. Additionally, DOZ only has clients in the affordable (government-subsidized) housing industry, so unless that's what you want to do for the rest of your career, go to a firm that provided a better mix of client industries.

Audit Intern

December 2018 - March 2019 • Carmel, IN

What I liked

The staff is amazing and they are truest there to help you learn and succeed.

What I wish was different

Housing in the area is costly, especially for short term. So more assistance with options that are affordable would be nice. Especially for someone not from the area.

Advice

Don’t be afraid to take a semester to have an internship. The experience is incomparable.
