I love that I felt welcome and heard in the organization. DonorsChoose.org is a truly open and collaborative space -- where everyone is more than willing to help each other. Throughout my time, I had the chance to talk one on one with many of the employees across the organization. People are generally busy but they make time to connect and to share!
What I wish was different
In my role, my main project was flexible and open-ended. I loved the autonomy that I got, but I would also love to have another strict and rigid project so that I could experience both types of projects.
Advice
Ask people out for coffee! Not only that it helps you get to know them and feel welcome, but it would also make it easier to collaborate with your coworkers in the future!

What I liked
I enjoyed the depth of projects that were assigned to me. I also enjoyed the supportive community.

I wish the interns had more opportunities to share what they were working on to one another.
Advice
You have to be willing to put your foot out there to truly maximize the experience.
