DocuSign

Solution Engineering Intern

June - September 2022 • Virginia Beach, VA

What I liked

The company culture and efforts toward diversity, equity, and inclusion are unmatched. The employee resource groups are full of personal and professional development opportunities and the accessibility to senior leadership and different industry verticals was open and seamless. The people who manage the internship programs invest in you not only as a DocuSign employee but as an incoming professional into the work world. The culture of servant leadership, encouragement, and support make any employee feel cared for and included in company decisions, meetings, and discussions. Furthermore, the feedback meetings geared towards continuous improvement for interns were very useful and contributed to fast-tracked professional development.

What I wish was different

There was not as much interfacing with real clients as I had wished and there were more "mock scenarios" to practice learned skills. The mock practices were nice, but it would have been formative to present in front of actual customers.

Advice

Connect with as many people as you can, set up meetings, and ask questions. You can reach out to anyone within the company to gain their insight into the company, career choices, and life in general. DocuSign employees are always willing to share their wisdom, including the executive suite!

Advice

Leverage your personal network - especially if you are a computer science major. I don't necessarily think applying online is good unless you go to a top 5 computer science school.
