I enjoyed the opportunity of learning and working closely with a registered nurse, and working with different staff members. I loved how it provided me with hands-on experience with caring for patients and their families, as well as learning how to prioritize and delegate.
What I wish was different
Nothing.
Advice
I would say to step out of your comfort zone, and to do it afraid. Intentionally seek out opportunities that will challenge and make you better! When I initially considered doing an internship at a hospital, I was worried about smoothly transitioning from being a nursing student to actually working 12-hr shifts on the unit with a registered nurse. I am thankful I took this opportunity despite my concerns, and I grew through this process. As a senior graduating in the fall, I am more confident about my clinical skills, and excited about the journey that lies ahead!
