Data Analytics Intern

June - August 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I really liked working at an interesting and vibrant advertising agency and learning about all the different capabilities within the company. I also enjoyed learning so much about performance analytics for ads and working with a helpful team that fostered a welcoming work environment.

What I wish was different

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions, especially about other capabilities that you might be interested in.

Media Intern

June - August 2018 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I really loved the culture of the company, my team, and the wisdom and advice I received from upper-level management. I also got to be very hands-on and had the opportunity to take ownership of a project that was presented to a client.

What I wish was different

The one thing I wish was different was the time I was given to explore the company and talk to employees outside of my team/department. Although I enjoyed the company, I wasn't entirely sure if I wanted a career in media, so I was hopeful that I would get to explore a little more. Unfortunately, I was involved in tons of meetings throughout the day for my client. Although these meetings were beneficial, I would have liked to expand my horizons a bit more.

Advice

If you have the opportunity, meet as many people throughout the company as you can! Ask employees about the jobs they are currently in, the jobs/companies they have experience with, and their goals for the future. I can't express enough how crucial it is to network.

Project Managment Intern

June - September 2018 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

My internship experience was amazing. With the office being right downtown on the river, the views were truly stunning. Being able to grab your lunch and eat it on the riverwalk daily was an experience I'll never forget. In the office, I was treated as a full time employee would be. I was given tasks daily, and never was bored or unsure of what was needed. As time progressed, I was assigned weekly tasks that would help my "team" out. By being assigned these tasks, such as reviewing actual hours (where employees specified what client they were working on), helping plan Agency Day (when the clients come in), to planning monthly gatherings for all of Whirlpool's team (the biggest group of employees at Digitas), I felt as if I was really benefitting the company.

What I wish was different

Since Digitas is made up of so many different teams working on different clients, communication sometimes was lacking. This was not necessarily a horrible thing, however just made it hard in the beginning when you were new to the company. Everything else was beyond spectacular.

Advice

Apply, apply, apply! Even though the application process can sometimes take weeks or even longer, it was so worth it. I really hope I am asked back.

Social Strategy Intern

June - August 2016 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I was able to get a lot of hands on experience with real life projects and work with clients. My manager provided me with helpful feedback and continued challenging me to work hard and learn as much as possible. I was also part of an intern program where we had learning sessions and were introduced to key people in the agency.

What I wish was different

Nothing! I loved my experience and work for the company now!

Advice

Work hard! No task is too small and no task is too big. Work to figure things out on your own first and do your research but also don't be afraid to ask questions - that's what your team is there for. They want you to learn.

I loved the culture and people I worked with. My manager was amazing and wanted me to learn as much as possible. I also enjoyed the work I did throughout the summer. It was a great combination of both data analysis and creativity/media.

I wish I had learned more about different areas of the business.

Advice

I would tell people how important it is to continue networking. My Villanova mentor helped me find this internship and I encourage everyone to continue growing their number of connections.
