Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC)

cheif client office intern

June - August 2023 • Jersey City, NJ

What I liked

The work-life balance at this company was astonishing; I was able to come into work and be productive and later go home and relax with my family, which is very rare in the financial services industry. The environment was constantly uplifting, and everyone was constantly ready to happily help.

What I wish was different

I wish I could spend more time interning for this company. I felt it was the perfect environment to grow within the field.

Advice

Go in open-minded and ready to connect with a bunch of people.

Information Technology Intern

June - August 2021 • Coppell, TX

What I liked

I enjoyed working on different projects and assignments, such as learning how to create a Microsoft Power Automate Flow that extracted data from MS Forms and imported it into an Excel spreadsheet. I enjoyed the opportunity to network with professionals outside of my team who were working on projects and with teams that aligned with my career interests. Finally, I enjoyed the support and encouragement that I constantly received from my manager and my team, as well as the opportunity to sharpen the skills that I developed from my internship experience last summer.

What I wish was different

One aspect of my internship that I wished would have been different was the remote experience. I wished that the internship was in-person, so that I would have had the opportunity to meet other DTCC employees at the Dallas office and build my professional network and establish new connections.

Advice

One piece of advice that I would like to share about this experience is to always keep an open mind. Even though you may not like something about your internship, such as the project or team, be willing to accept any challenge and persevere. Additionally, make sure to always use your resources. Reach out to your manager or team if you ever need help. If you feel like the project you are working on is not challenging enough or does not align with your interests, never hesitate to speak to your manager. They are always willing to help you and support you.
