Intern

June 2019 • Washington, DC

What I liked

A lot of my experiences and responsibilities related back to classes that I had taken the previous school year, which made me feel better about attending the school and made me happier to return, because what I am learning is relevant. I also had a good time networking and getting a glimpse into what the job actually entails.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more time over the summer, that the internship was longer.

Advice

Don't undersell yourself. Be confident in your skills and abilities and you can go so much farther.

What I liked

The people! My unit was so welcoming and really embraced me working on project alongside them.

What I wish was different

Experience different aspects of the department, going to different units and shadowing different agents and analysts.

Advice

Advocate for yourself. You have skills that you can bring to the table. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, they don’t expect you to know it all when you walk in.
