I enjoyed the freedom I had to essentially make my own hours and my own schedule. I worked with my advisor to create the experiment and was able to think independently throughout my work. I worked alongside him to create the entire research experiment and the path for our project. I was able to get the entire research experiment from start to finish as it was a new project.
What I wish was different
Nothing that I can think of. We worked cohesively to problem solve and I enjoyed the independence I had as a solo laboratory assistant.
Advice
Being patient throughout the beginning parts of an experiment is the most important thing to remember. If an initial experiment does not provide the results that you desire, it still pushes the overall process forward as it gives insight to other questions you did not even know existed.
