I learned a lot about different leaderships skills and how to identify them within myself. I met other students and Deloitte professionals from across the nation.

What I wish was different

Nothing stands out as needing to be different.

Advice

I would say to just try to get the most out of all the leadership programs, and try to identify the difference between the company cultures of all the firms.

Technology Consultant Intern

June - August 2019 • Arlington County, VA

What I liked

Loved being able to work with a numerous employees ranging from other interns all the way up to senior managers and partners. My experience allowed me to gain a good idea of what to expect if I was to work full-time at the firm and helped me learn numerous skills that I can apply in my last year of classes.

What I wish was different

For the return offer, you must respond fairly quickly about whether you want to take the offer or not. This makes it difficult for you to explore other firms and jobs during your final year of school.

Advice

Recommend networking and meeting firm employees as much as possible! If you are interested in a certain field of work, make that known and speak to staff currently working in that field so that they can help you do work in that same area. Your experience is what you make it.

What I liked

Deloitte really cherishes its people. Aside from promoting work-life balance, it makes sure to present each employee (including interns) with many opportunities for growth both as a professional in the firm and as a leader in general.

What I wish was different

I wish the internship lasted longer -- I had way too much fun last summer.

Advice

Although technical expertise does come as a plus, I would first focus on building a network both within the firm and the industry as a whole. My most valuable takeaways from the summer lie in the connections I have made.

Global Finance Services Intern

June - August 2019 • Hermitage, TN

What I liked

I loved working at Deloitte. I was mainly working on data analytics projects but I felt like I really had a purpose and was contributing to a bigger goal. My team was amazing and very encouraging to me in my growth process. I also had the amazing opportunity to go to Deloitte University where I learned some of the greatest leadership skills that have helped me through this journey.

What I wish was different

Advice

Make sure to ask the right questions. One of the big things that I learned through my experience was that people are extremely busy. If you ask someone to help you, you need to know what you need help on or don’t understand. Also, always ask for deadlines. I had a bunch of projects thrown at me at once and knowing the deadlines for the deliverables made it ten times easier to prioritize.
