Daimler Truck North America

Hardware Design Engineering Intern

April - September 2019 • Portland, OR

What I liked

Daimler is a company that puts the work environment above profits. The company is very accommodating and the work place environment is fast paced yet relaxed and friendly.

What I wish was different

I wish that there were more classes offered for NX software use. The offered classes already have good topics and are thought well, but it would be even better if they where more regular and progressed over time.

Advice

Talk to as many people as you can, everyone is friendly and possesses a specialized experience within the company.

Software Developer Intern

June - December 2019 • Portland, OR

What I liked

I liked being part of a real team, and getting hands on experience development. I was involved in a software maintenance team, and got to spend time analyzing and fixing code.

What I wish was different

I didn't have as many learning resources as I would have liked, and I spent a lot of time bouncing between maintenance projects without a real project to work on.

Advice

It's up to you to make sure you're doing enough work and the kind of work you want to be doing. Ask for help, do your best work, try to keep yourself busy.

Assembly technician

May - August 2018 • High Point, NC

What I liked

I enjoyed the overall process of seeing the busses getting made from scratch. I loved the people that I worked with while there, they all seemed like a close knit family.

What I wish was different

I wish I wasn’t in such a strenuous section. I was one of only 2 females in our section, and we were often short staffed compared to other sections. The heavy labor caused me to tear my hamstrings.

Advice

It’s a very hard job, but it’s benefits are worth it. The people you work with will be the ones helping you through your toughest days. And be nice to everyone there, you never know the struggles they go through in their everyday lives.
