D.R. Horton, Inc.

IT Intern

May - August 2021 • Arlington, TX

What I liked

I loved their flexibility and eagerness to help me lear. I gained hands on experience off the bat and I found that invaluable in propelling my career.

What I wish was different

A housing stipend for relocation would have been nice, but as far as the internship daily happenings I have nothing I'd change.

Advice

To take a chance-- do not sell yourself short before actually going and embarking in an internship. Pick companies you'd dream of working for and fill out an application; you would be surprised who gets back!

Construction Intern

May - August 2019 • Draper, UT

What I liked

It was a well organized internship. I had a mentor who helped me throughout the summer. They gave me real life experiences and let me do a lot of hands on things.

What I wish was different

They had an office portion of the internship that was to long. It would be better if they made it shorter

Advice

If you are interested in residential construction, then this is definitely a great opportunity.

Accounting Intern

May - August 2019 • Tampa, FL

What I liked

Both corporate and the branch I worked at treated their interns exceptionally well, treating us to many dinners and special events. I also learned a substantial amount about how business in this field is conducted, and what accountants in a real-world setting do and how.

What I wish was different

I felt that the variety of tasks I had the chance to learn could have been larger.

Advice

Don't put off the end-of-internship tasks, like the essay and employer review at the back of the packet.
