What I liked

I enjoyed learning about Chinese culture in and outside of the workplace, as well as the language immersion component of the internship. Instead of going through a program, I emailed someone in CWT through a family connection and set up the internship myself.

What I wish was different

I wish there could have been more structure. I was often left with nothing to do just because my co-workers were unused to having an intern, especially an English-speaker. I also wish I could have been more useful. Because of security-clearance issues and language barriers, I was not allowed to do every much, other than planning events/projects, and crunching numbers.

Advice

Do not be afraid to ask for help. I was often stuck in a rut, needing work but not wanting to bother anyone and so I quickly had to be ok with asking people to help me.
