I love everything about CVS! I enjoy filling prescriptions on a weekly basis! It motivates me to learn names of medications for pharmacy school!

The only thing I don't like amour working at a retail pharmacy is the inconsistency and looking hours. I work different shifts on different days. I can open at 8 or close at 9 it just depends.

Advice

As a pharmacy technician working at CVS can be stressful but also rewarding. I work in a fast paced environment promoting efficiency and multitasking. There are so many things I'm exposed to as far as dealing with customers, problem solving, and innovation.

I liked the job, though it is not a great area I like working in lower income areas, we get people not necessarily from different backgrounds just people that share the hardships of everyday life in Detroit.

I wish we had better help, we would be able to help the people much more.

Advice

If you are looking to become a pharmacist, don’t hesitate by starting as a technician, whether 1 day work or a lot more you will learn.

Advice

Take advantage of every opportunity you can to set yourself apart from the competition. By doing this, I was able to get the attention of several executive leaders as well as negotiate for a higher salary with my return offer. Don't be afraid to reach out to your managers/company leaders (especially if setting up an informational interview)! They are always so excited to help because so few people are willing and determined enough to set up a meeting. Make sure you do your research on them/their area of expertise first so you are able to have an actual conversation. Don't forget to take note of one or two things that stood out to you from your conversation and incorporate those things into a thank you email. UTILIZE LINKEDIN! I made so many connections and added a wide variety of people to my network, it has really helped expose me to recruiters as well as allowed me to learn more about different areas of business I hadn't known too much about before.

Finance Intern

What I liked

It was a 10-week long, paid internship that allowed me to get a feel of a department in which I was considering for a career. In week 8 we were invited to present of what we had done that Summer to a recruiter for a Finance Leadership Development Program within Aetna, and we found out on the last day of the internship if we were receiving a full-time offer to return in June 2019 after we graduated, which I did. As well as those who weren't graduating this school year were informed if they were receiving an offer to return for another internship.

What I wish was different

I wish it was longer. Although, I did get an offer to work part-time through the school, which I accepted and will continue to work there until my full-time position starts in June 2019.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share about this experience is to ask as many questions as you can, network with as many people as you can, and to soak up all the knowledge that you can.
