My top two favorite experiences from this internship were how hands on we were and learning about many different aspects of environmental health. As interns I worked on many different projects. These projects ranged from mosquito trapping to making Covid test kits and working on other Covid projects. I was able to lead one of the projects for my team of interns for one of the mosquito projects.
What I wish was different
I wish that there was a little bit more to do. This is not anyone’s fault. This summer was unique because of Covid-19, and that meant there was less to do in vector because we weren’t getting as many calls from citizens complaining about mosquito activity.
Advice
One piece of advice would be to go in with an open mind and ready to do any project. Whether it’s specifically related to vector control and environmental health or another area within the Board of Health always keep an open mind. Also, always ask questions! It is one of the best ways to learn.
