Curriculum Associates

Professional Development Operations Intern

May - August 2022 • North Billerica, MA

What I liked

To be honest, there is so much I loved about the Curriculum Associates Internship Program! To start off, I really liked how the internship was catered towards my interests and technical experiences I wanted to gain. The interview process was seamless and the Senior Talent Specialist, Mr. Harvey Vincent, offered me a role that best aligned with my future career interests. Once I onboarded, my manager, Mrs. Jessica Wheeler Tranchino, also gave me projects and tasks that allowed me to hone in on technical skills I wanted to gain this summer. I, also, absolutely appreciated the Workshop Wednesdays, which were an hour every week of getting to meet your fellow interns and learning more about the company and it's people through guest speakers. We even got to present our work we did throughout the internship on the last week! Last but not least, I want to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the company culture and how friendly and helpful everyone is. It truly makes you feel like you belong!

What I wish was different

I wish my internship experience was in-person rather than remote since I would have the opportunity to meet everyone face to face and build greater connections and relationships!

Advice

One piece of advice I would share about this experience is that you should not be afraid to ask questions at all, even to people who you don't directly work with, since everyone is very friendly and helpful!

Talent Acquisition Intern

June 2022 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Interning at CA this summer has been a wonderful. The people here are some of the most kindhearted, open-minded, outgoing and understanding I have ever met. I am especially grateful for my manager, Keisha, who has been extremely flexible, helpful and all-around fun to work with. All of the projects and tasks I have been assigned have been engaging and meaningful, giving me exposure to the world of EdTech and talent acquisition in real-time. Working remotely has also been a great experience, as I have had more control over my schedule, allowing me to travel and work asynchronously at times, while still being able to connect with team members virtually. To top it all off, CA hosts Workshop Wednesdays for all the interns, giving us the space to connect, participate in career development seminars and learn more about the EdTech industry through conversations with company leadership.

What I wish was different

I wish time hadn't flown by so quickly!

Advice

If you're interested in EdTech and want to work with lovely people, apply!

Recruitment Intern

December 2021 • Greensboro, NC

What I liked

This is my first internship and I already want to find a job at this company. The vibe is relaxed and the job is flexible. The internship is hybrid due to covid, we have been remote mostly. So far I have gotten to meet the Vice President of the company, the Dean of Students at A&T, the owner of the Historic Magnolia House in Greensboro, and the former Mayor of Greensboro, Keith Holiday. I have made so many new connects just at this job alone by branching out to SynerG's young professionals group for the company. I have even set up some sponsorships for Curriculum Associates by networking at SynerG. I could not ask for a better experience! I have learned how to make professional emails, network better, set up meetings with Clubs at UNCG, and become a more well rounded professional individual.

What I wish was different

I wish that COVID was not around so that we could have more in person events, but being remote was not to much of a set back! My supervisor and Senior Talent Specialist, Harvey Vincent, kept me involved in every event and meeting that was appropriate for my internship!

Advice

Some Advice would be to apply! I have grown so much these past months due to this internship! Plus they have great benefits and opportunities for employees!

Digital Marketing Intern

July 2019 • Billerica, MA

What I liked

I liked that every week there were 2-3 projects that were assigned to me on top of the many weekly projects I must manage. For every project I got a lot of background information about the concepts involved with the project. Therefore, I got to learn about interesting marketing/business topics and put them into action in the way that Curriculum Associates go about it. It is a great experience so far!

What I wish was different

I wish that I had switched to this Digital Marketing role sooner. This co-op includes 3 rotations. I gained some skills within the first two, but the workload was not sustainable by the last month of the second rotation. It was also not very close to my career interests.

Advice

I would share that someone in this fellowship should look for full-time/part-time roles very early on in the process while making sure you communicate to colleagues that your current role is important. Also, any company event is well worth attendance.
