Influencer Marketing Intern

May - August 2020 • San Francisco, CA

What I liked

Company culture - the company, especially the team I worked on, is quite young. The people I worked alongside were helpful, engaged, and hardworking, always coming up with new ways to look at the task at hand. Opportunities to implement new ideas - I was able to pitch a campaign idea and help build out who would be involved and what it would look like! The managers were really receptive to intern feedback and ideas since most of the team is interns, and I truly felt like we were listened to as equals in this sense. Opportunities for cross-functional work - worked with data analytics, creative team, user acquisition, legal, etc. which was great in learning about other areas and how they function! It also created a more collaborative environment that allowed for the work my team was doing to be more cohesive with the other teams in Marketing

What I wish was different

Clarity of expectations (most of the time I would end up just messaging more senior coworkers, but it would be nice to have more upfront!) and more interactions consistently throughout the internship (first week was super busy with meetings, second thru fourth were more bare)

Advice

You have to be very self-directed! Find a jive to the work your given and thinking of new ways to source influencers is crucial since we've worked with a lot of people in the past.
