Cultural Surveys Hawaii

Intern at Cultural Surveys Hawaii

May - June 2018 • Wailuku, HI

What I liked

I liked the fact that I was able to work in my home town. More specifically, my internship involved preserving Hawaiian culture through project surveying. I enjoying the field work, and learning about Hawaiian history through every aspect of the internship.

What I wish was different

I wish that I could have interned there longer. My time there was cut short because I had to take a summer school class.

Advice

To be extremely open minded. I was worried that I would not enjoy the office work, however that ended up being my favorite part of the internship. I was able to read history books about the Hawaiian islands, and I learned the history that was related to specific regions while I scanned Archeological Inventory Surveys into the computer.
