I liked the flexibility of my schedule and the trust that the founder, Elaine, gave us to represent Cultivate well. We got to talk to interact with trainees and donors, we didn't just take a back seat.
What I wish was different
The internship is remote, but there normally are opportunities to meet in person a couple times a month. This year that was not possible. I think that meeting in person a couple of times would have changed the experience and cleared up any communication disconnects the come from working remotely.
Advice
This position didn't offer a lot of training so it is helpful to have some understanding and skills before taking the position. Be prepared to high the ground running and be adaptable! For some of the projects that pop up, don't be afraid to advocate for yourself and what ones you would be interested in working on.
