I liked the one-on-one feel of this internship. This company had no formal internship program, so I was the only intern in the office. Because of this, the attention I received was very personalized. While there were projects I had to do, my project managers also asked what I wanted to do. This gave me a chance to learn more.
What I wish was different
I wish I had a better idea of this position going into the job. I was excited to start applying my knowledge in the real world, but that excitement clouded my vision when it came to practical things. With no formal internship program, CT Consultants also didn't have a clear idea of what I was to be doing. This ended up allowing for more one-on-one experiences, but as mentioned earlier, going in with a clear idea would have helped!
Advice
One piece of advice I would share about this experience is to use your already-established personal connections. I found this internship due to a connection my mother had. I know other friends have secured internships from alumni, friends, family, and other personal connections. While using sites like Handshake and Linkedin are great, a personal referral makes a huge difference.
