Donnor Support Tech

May - August 2018 • Hidalgo, TX

What I liked

I learnt lot of new things. They train you really good before you put your hands on any donor.

What I wish was different

Definitely long shifts. You don't know at what time you will clock out. Like, if you clock in at 1:00 pm, which is the afternoon shift, you will go home until there is no more donors at the center, this can be until 11:00 pm. They also open on holidays. This past 4th of July I worked, the good thing is that they double the pay.

Advice

Honestly, at the beginning I was a little scared about all the little details you have to put attention on, because you have the responsibility of taking care of donors during their donation all in a safety way without risking their health. Sometimes random things happen like body reactions or equipment failures that you have to control as soon as possible to keep a safe environment for the donor and for you. In a couple of weeks I felt so much confident and everything flowed good. Critical think, attention to detail and efficiency are a must for this job, and I am really thankful for these skills I got at CSL Plasma. So, the advice I want to share is believe in yourself and don't let any situation that seems difficult scared you, go for it!

Engineering Intern

May - August 2019 • Kankakee, IL

What I liked

I really enjoyed the organizational culture at CSL Behring. It was very cooperative. I had the chance to work with multiple sections with the Fractionation department each bringing their specific skill set into productive meetings to tackle problems head on and plan on how to prevent them from occurring in the future. The tasks I were given were reasonable and had a clear impact on the department.

What I wish was different

I would have like a more technically difficult project but the ones I were assigned need to be completed ASAP so it was a trade off I was fine with.

Advice

There are a lot of people you will have access to who are not in your immediate department or that you don't have a direct contact with , it is important to reach out to them and see what you can learn.

R&D Process Development Intern

May - August 2018 • Kankakee, IL

What I liked

The people I worked with were very helpful and welcoming. I also liked getting real world lab experience.

What I wish was different

I loved my internship, I don't have anything that I wish would have been different.

Advice

My advice is apply for internships early, and apply to as many as you are interested in. When you get the job, it is important to be nice to everyone and very attentive to detail so that they do not have to show you how to do things multiple times.
