What I liked

I loved my coworkers and my bosses. Everyone strove to provide an uplifting environment for not only the kids we hosted, but for the staff members themselves. We were taken care of and given rest after stressful situations in counselling. Though the job was difficult, my relationship with the kids, new ones each camp, got stronger and stronger as I learned to love my job more and more.

What I wish was different

I wish that we were given more breaks between camps. I know the schedule doesn't allow for much room for days off - but burnt out counsellors who develop personal relationships with of their each campers, don't do their job well.

Advice

Be prepared for every job imaginable. I was a counsellor. But I worked dishes and games, ropecourses and toilets, and dug holes and painted houses.
