ABOUT US | Founded by Joe Critchfield in 1977 as a design build firm, CMI is one of California's leading commercial mechanical & plumbing contractors. We work in the commercial construction industry, partnering with General Contractors on their projects as experts in HVAC and plumbing, performing the engineering design as well as construction trade management. We get in on the "ground floor" during the project's imagination and planning stages to help the architect and GC team establish the overall construction plan by developing unique engineering solutions and thoughtful logistics, with an eye to the whole process. Then, we make our designs come to life by managing the coordination, procurement, fabrication and installation processes alongside our union trade partners. Our recent clients include Apple, Disney, Facebook, Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles Airport (LAX), Roku and San Francisco Airport (SFO). We have two locations in California, each of which house our local teams - from systems design to material fabrication - all under one roof. Our unique business model eliminates traditional departmental silos, focusing instead on serving each project with a single, dedicated team from estimating through owner occupancy.
