CRIO

E-Source Designer

February - August 2022 • Cambridge, MA

What I liked

Great team. Everyone that I interfaced with was extremely friendly and helpful. I got a lot of constructive feedback on what I did well and what I could have done better on certain projects. I felt like my supervisors really cared about my growth during my time there. As a medical student, I also learned a lot about clinical trial design in various fields of medicine. Overall, this was a great experience that integrated the tech and medical fields.

What I wish was different

Even though I had experience with clinical research, it was definitely still a bit challenging learning CRIO software so that I could make electronic source documents using their platform. However, the onboarding process was very structured, and the training material was very comprehensive. I highly recommend doing at least one practice build (or more) and getting comfortable with the software before taking on a build from a client. In hindsight, I personally should have done more practice builds that were offered by my supervisors before taking on client builds.

Advice

Do not be afraid of asking questions. The team at CRIO is great and there is a very supportive and collaborative environment. Asking questions is an integral part of learning new skills, and it is also a way for your supervisors to gauge what you are comfortable with so that they can help address any difficulties that you may run into.

Software Engineering Intern

July - December 2020 • Cambridge, MA

What I liked

Great people. Was made to feel apart of the team. Was treated more like a full-time employee than an intern! I learned a lot! They allowed me to show and pursue my interests, which led to opportunities to work on things that I wouldn't have been able to otherwise, and I am very appreciative of that.

What I wish was different

It was a bit overwhelming at times.

Advice

Learn how to properly communicate with your team and try to make sure you are always on the same page with them!

DevOps Engineering Intern

January - August 2021 • Boston, MA

What I liked

As an intern at CRIO, I felt like a full-time engineer rather than just an intern. I was involved with my team and was able to make meaningful contributions over the course of my internship. Everyone at CRIO is friendly and outgoing and was a pleasure to work with!

What I wish was different

At times, I found myself wanting more structure to the internship, especially towards the beginning. It was a bit overwhelming learning the entire tech stack without much guidance, so a more structured onboarding process would have been helpful.

Advice

An internship is what you make of it! It is very easy to just coast by doing your assigned work, but it is much more valuable to seek out new opportunities to learn. Make sure to ask lots of questions and ask for work outside of your comfort zone.

Software Engineer Intern

July - December 2020 • Myrtle Point, OR

What I liked

Great people and tight-knit culture. As an intern I was treated like a full-time software engineer. Regularly interacted with other software engineers, clients, and the head of customer success. Met directly with the CEO several times and was involved in new client-facing projects.

What I wish was different

Pay was on the low-end for software engineering internships. Had to do manual QA at times.

Advice

You’ll learn a lot and will contribute immediately.
