What I liked

I liked how I was able to try and learn a lot of different things within civil engineering. I worked with some great people and they always made sure I had something to do and kept me in the loop with any projects they were doing. I liked how they put me in charge of inspections and trusted me with the township vehicle. I also liked how they gave me a nice office space and allowed me to work inside as well.

What I wish was different

I wish there were other engineering interns there. I think it would've helped me learn a lot more and made me more comfortable asking for help during the internship.

Advice

Don't hesitate to reach out to people. I got this internship from cold calling the right person at the right time. It never hurts to reach out and search for positions, even if it puts you in an awkward position at the time. Another piece of advice is to not hesitate to ask questions: you are there to learn as much as you can, so pretending to know what you are doing gets you nowhere.

Camp Counselor

What I liked

I got the chance to work with amazing staff at the 3-4 year old camp. Watching their minds grow and develop was the most wonderful thing!

What I wish was different

I wish the schedule had been a bit different. 8 hours of camp is a lot for toddlers.

Advice

Take every opportunity you can to help plan and understand a lesson. You’ll be much better prepared. But also, don’t be afraid to change things up when needed.
