I go to do some interesting things and learn all about foundations and philanthropy in the US. Everyone was nice and I felt challenged.
What I wish was different
I wish that I could have gotten closer to the other interns.

Don't be afraid to ask and get coffee with people!

Membership and Marketing Intern

What I liked
The Council team was extraordinarily welcoming and made sure I was included in all discussions, meetings and projects. The office was also in a convenient location for me, yet I got to explore a new neighborhood, Crystal City.
What I wish was different
I realized that membership and marketing probably aren't the fields for me, at least in the non-profit sector. I would definitely be interested in a marketing position at a record label or some other entity in the music industry.
Advice
Connect with your coworkers and seniors after you leave the position, as those connections can prove invaluable down the road when you are looking for a position.
