Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)—Chicago

Government Affairs Intern

May - August 2019 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I felt as though the work that I was doing was really important, and even though I was sitting at a desk all day, I also saw the ways that our organization helps the community in such profound ways.

What I wish was different

I wish the internship programs themselves had been more flexible and allowed for us to pursue more individual passion projects rather than the rigid expectations set for interns.

Advice

Relationships are everything! The people who work at CAIR are some of the most inspiring and fun people I have ever met, and having close relationships with everyone at the organization is essential to having the best internship experience possible.
